4 components that we should have in Islam as our identity.
1. Believe in Tauhid
2. Best character (Akhlaq)
Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said,
“Verily, I have only been sent to perfect righteous character.” (Musnad Aḥmad 8952, Shahih)
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:
“The best among you are those who have the best manners and character.” (Sahih Al-Bukhari)
3. Get the Happiness
To get happiness, we must first know the purpose for which we were created.
Allah said:
"And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me." (QS. Adz-Dzariyaat: 56)
4. Surrender to Allah
"Say: 'Surely my Prayer, all my acts of worship, and my living and my dying are for Allah alone, the Lord of the whole universe. He has no associate. Thus have I been bidden, and I am the foremost of those who submit themselves (to Allah)." (QS. Al An'am 162-163)
The three levels of Sabr (patience)
Patience is divided into three categories:
1. Patience upon the obedience of Allah.
2. Patience with staying away from disobedience to Allah.
3. Patience upon the pre-decree of Allah.
"If you are grateful, I will surely increase you in favor." (QS. Ibrahim : 7)
The Islamic scholars have said that for an act of ibadah (worship) to be deemed correct, it must meet two conditions:
1. Sincerity (ikhlas); and
2. Ittiba', in accordance with how Prophet Muhammad ﷺ did it (follow the Sunnah)
If we want to be a good person, then we have to pay attention to our friends.
If our friends are bad, then we have to change our circle of friends immediately.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
"A man follows the religion of his friend; so each one should consider whom he makes his friend." (Sunan Abi Dawud 4833)
